PY Education tutors Australian senior secondary (Year 11–12) students in the business subjects — Accounting, Business Studies / Business Management and Economics — across the NSW HSC, the Victorian VCE, the Queensland QCE, and the WACE and SACE systems of Western and South Australia.
Australia has no national exam; each state runs its own. The NSW HSC mark is 50% school-based assessment and 50% the end-of-year HSC exam. The VCE study score comes from Units 3 & 4, with School-Assessed Coursework (SACs) and the end-of-year exam each counting for half. The QCE weights three internal assessments at 75% and the external exam at only 25%. The same subject is sequenced, assessed and written differently under each, so the first step is to establish the state and the board, and teach to that syllabus and its past papers.
Students at the Australian international school in Hong Kong sit the NSW HSC; students boarding or at day school in Australia sit whichever system their state runs. We teach both, each to its own system.
Unlike the HKDSE or A-Level, most of an Australian result is settled before the end-of-year exam: HSC school assessments, VCE SACs and the QCE IA1–IA3 each count directly toward the final mark. Tutoring therefore has to follow the school's assessment calendar — revising and practising each topic ahead of its SAC or assessment task — rather than saving everything for a past-paper run in October.
The first lesson looks at the assessment calendar and the school marks already banked. Completed assessments cannot be resat, but the exam's share is still enough to move a ranking — which topics need shoring up and which can be pushed higher is worked out against the assessments and exam still to come.
University entry is by ATAR, which is calculated from scaled results across the subject combination. The usual position for a business student is Economics or Accounting already secure while the Business extended responses sit stubbornly mid-band — and where to put the hours depends on how each subject scales and how far each is from target: one decision across the subjects rather than several taken separately.

Australia's east coast (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane) is two to three hours ahead of Hong Kong; Perth is on the same time. Online lessons usually run after your school day, in Hong Kong's afternoon or early evening, and move around your assessment dates.
