IBDP tutoring: Economics and Business Management at HL and SL — the three papers and the Internal Assessment that carries a fifth of each grade — plus Mathematics (AA and AI) taught by Mr Wong. One-to-one, Kwun Tong or online, free trial lesson.
PY Education tutors IB Diploma students in the business subjects — Economics and Business Management, at both Higher and Standard Level. Mathematics — both Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation — is taught by Mr Wong, at a different rate from the business subjects.
The diploma is scored out of 45: seven marks for each of six subjects, plus up to three from Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay. Among the six, the business subjects are usually where a student expects to score, so lessons work to the assessment criteria: the difference between the HL and SL requirements first, then the Internal Assessment and how the papers are answered.
The Internal Assessment is the other underestimated part. The three commentaries in Economics and the research project in Business Management each carry a fifth of that subject's grade, and both are done in school without exam time pressure. It is the most winnable part of the whole transcript, and the part most students leave until it is urgent.
Coming from a local curriculum or IGCSE, the difficulty is rarely the depth of the content. It is that IB wants the answer given through its concepts, with the source material quoted inside it. Reproducing a definition is a pass; naming which key concept a situation illustrates and supporting it with the data is the difference between a 6 and a 7.
Both IB mathematics subjects, Analysis and Approaches (AA) and Applications and Interpretation (AI), are taught by Mr Wong at HL and SL. AA rewards algebraic manipulation and proof, AI rewards modelling and data, and the two papers read like different subjects — so the subject is settled first and HL against SL second. Mathematics is charged at a different rate from the business subjects; see the fees below.

Economics leans on models and diagrams: explaining events through supply and demand, market structures and macro policy, with a real share of the marks in calculation and drawing. Business Management leans on case analysis: reading a company's situation, then proposing and evaluating decisions, with more writing. Both sit in Group 3, and you can take tutoring in one or both.
Yes. The IA carries real weight and is the only piece of the year that can be improved slowly, so we start at choosing the topic and the sources, then read each draft against the assessment criteria. To be clear, we advise and annotate only — the writing must be the student's own, as IB academic honesty requires.
Yes. HL adds a paper and extra content, and both the depth and the calculation demands step up; SL concentrates on the core. Tell us HL or SL at enrolment and the schedule follows that syllabus and paper structure.
Yes. One-to-one lesson times are agreed between both sides. Office hours are Monday to Friday 10:00 – 20:00 and Saturday 09:00 – 20:00, and a heavier run of lessons before exams can be arranged.
Mathematics is HK$750 per hour, with 60-minute lessons, billed every four lessons (HK$3,000 for four), taught by Mr Wong; AA and AI, HL and SL are all the same rate. The business subjects, Economics and Business Management, are HK$800 per hour with 60-minute lessons, taught by the founder, Tinnie. The first lesson can be free on either side.
