GCE A-Level and International A-Level tutoring: Accounting, Business Studies and Economics, plus Mathematics and Further Mathematics taught by Mr Wong — planned around the modular units, the January, June and October sittings, and the retake decisions that follow. Free trial lesson.
PY Education tutors GCE A-Level and International A-Level students in the business subjects: Accounting, Business Studies and Economics. Mathematics and Further Mathematics are taught by Mr Wong, at rates of their own, different from the three business subjects.
IAL is sat in units. Pearson runs three series a year — January, June and October — and which units are open in each is published by Pearson each year; units can be retaken for a better grade. Nothing rests on a single exam at the end — but the decisions come earlier. Which unit to sit first, which to leave room to retake, and whether a retake is worth the hours are all questions for the start of the course.
The first lesson looks at your sittings and the unit grades you already hold. A unit sitting just under a boundary is usually worth another attempt; one comfortably above should stop taking up time. Making that call early changes how the whole year is spent.
Conditional offers are met on the overall grade profile. The common position for a business student is one subject already at target and another half a grade short — and where to put the hours, or whether half a grade justifies a retake, is one decision across the subjects rather than several taken separately.
A-Level and IAL mathematics is taught by Mr Wong, covering the Pure, Mechanics and Statistics units. Further Mathematics is a separate A-Level on top of it — Further Pure, Further Mechanics and Further Statistics — usually taken by students heading into mathematics, physics, engineering or a quantitative economics degree. The modular structure suits both: the units reward different things, so the order they are sat in can follow the student’s strengths instead of putting every risk on one final examination. The two subjects are charged at different rates, and both differ from the business subjects; see the fees below.

IAL is modular, and Pearson runs January, June and October series, with the units open in each published by Pearson every year; in mathematics, Pure P1–P4 and M1, M2, S1 and S2 are open in all three, while Decision Maths D1 is January and June only. Rather than following the school's pace we work backwards from which unit you intend to sit when: lock down the units for the nearest sitting first and let the rest follow. That spreads the load instead of facing every unit at once.
Yes; being able to resit only the weakest unit is the point of a modular course. We start from the previous script and mark breakdown to establish whether the loss came from content, from timing, or from how answers were written — the remedy for those three is completely different.
The syllabuses and paper structures differ: Edexcel IAL is taken unit by unit, with six units in Mathematics, with Pearson running January, June and October series, while Cambridge organises AS / A2 and its sittings differently. Tell us your board at enrolment and lessons follow that syllabus and its past papers.
Yes — tick the box on the application form. The trial is used to establish your board, which units you have already sat and with what marks, before agreeing a plan.
Mathematics is HK$700 per hour and Further Mathematics HK$750 per hour, both with 60-minute lessons billed every four (HK$2,800 and HK$3,000 for four), taught by Mr Wong. The three business subjects are HK$800 per hour, taught by the founder, Tinnie. The first lesson can be free on any of them.
