GCE A-Level and International A-Level Further Mathematics tutoring covering Further Pure, Further Mechanics and Further Statistics — for students heading into mathematics, physics, engineering or a quantitative economics degree. Taught by Mr Wong, 60-minute lessons, Kwun Tong or online.
Need GCE A-Level or International A-Level Further Mathematics tutoring? Classes are taught by Mr Wong, who holds an MSc in Financial Mathematics and Statistics from City University of Hong Kong (Distinction) and a BBA in Finance from the same university, a full-time tutor with five years of one-to-one and small-group teaching experience. He also teaches IB, AP and IGCSE mathematics.
Further Mathematics is an A-Level in its own right, entered and graded separately from Mathematics, covering Further Pure, Further Mechanics and Further Statistics. Taught to the Edexcel IAL or Cambridge International A-Level unit combination. In Kwun Tong or online, one hour a lesson.
Key topics: complex numbers, matrices and linear transformations, series, further calculus, differential equations.
Key topics: momentum and collisions, circular motion, simple harmonic motion.
Key topics: discrete and continuous distributions, hypothesis testing, chi-squared tests.
Some boards offer a Decision Mathematics unit, covering algorithms, graphs and networks, and linear programming. Tell us your unit combination when you enrol and we prepare to that board’s arrangement.
Further Mathematics builds on the Pure content of Mathematics, so nearly all students take the two together. The first lesson lays both subjects’ units and sittings out on one timeline, so that the prerequisite material is always taught before it is needed.
Students heading into mathematics, physics, engineering or a quantitative economics degree — some universities require it, others recommend it. We weigh it up at the trial lesson against the student’s whole timetable and where they are heading, and give our view.

In practice, yes. Further Mathematics assumes the Pure content of Mathematics, so nearly all students take both. If you have already sat Mathematics, taking Further on its own is fine.
