IBDP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme)
IB Diploma mathematics tutoring in both Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, at HL and SL, including Paper 3 and the Internal Assessment. One-to-one or a self-formed group, 60 minutes a lesson.
Need IB Mathematics tutoring? Classes are taught by Mr Wong, who holds an MSc in Financial Mathematics and Statistics from City University of Hong Kong (Distinction) and a BBA in Finance from the same university, a full-time tutor with five years of one-to-one and small-group teaching experience. He also teaches A-Level, AP and IGCSE mathematics.
Covering both Analysis and Approaches (AA) and Applications and Interpretation (AI), at HL and SL, including Paper 3 and the Internal Assessment that carries a fifth of the grade. In Kwun Tong or online, one hour a lesson.
AA rewards algebraic manipulation and proof; AI rewards modelling, data and the use of technology, and the two papers read like different subjects. We weigh up which fits better against the student’s level, interests and where they are heading, and then settle HL or SL.
Key topics: number and algebra, functions, geometry and trigonometry, statistics and probability, calculus.
Paper 1 and Paper 2 divide the work differently, and HL adds the extended Paper 3, which asks for several topics to be handled together. We practise them paper by paper and build experience from past papers.
The Internal Assessment is a fifth of the final grade and is written at school, which makes it the earliest part of the course a student can get moving on. We follow it from the choice of topic — how wide to pitch it, how deep the mathematics should go, how the argument and the reflection are written — and demonstrate the revisions for the student to make themselves.

Students coming from a local curriculum or from IGCSE most often need to adjust to how IB wants answers written: the concept stated, the steps set out. We concentrate on that layer in the first few lessons so students settle into the pace of the course quickly.

Yes, and we suggest starting from the choice of topic. The IA is a fifth of the final grade, and the most common losses — a topic too broad, mathematics that is not deep enough — are cheapest to fix at that stage. We do not write it; we point out the problems and show how to fix them.
Some students self-study an AP alongside the IB, and it comes down to the timetable. We can work through what is actually feasible at the trial lesson.
