Accounting is a Year 11–12 subject in Victoria (VCE Accounting), Queensland (QCE Accounting), Western Australia (WACE Accounting and Finance) and South Australia (SACE Accounting). The NSW HSC has no Accounting course; business students there take Business Studies and Economics. Every state builds the course around a sole-trader trading business, and QCE Unit 4 extends it to companies.
In the VCE, Unit 3 is financial accounting for a trading business — inventory under a perpetual system, GST, revenues and expenses on an accrual basis. Unit 4 adds depreciation, balance-day adjustments and budgeting, then asks you to analyse performance through liquidity, profitability and efficiency indicators and recommend action. The first half rewards accuracy; the second rewards explaining what the numbers mean. Plenty of students score full marks on the recording and lose them on "analyse and recommend".
VCE SACs and QCE internal assessments count directly toward the final mark, with the exam worth a half or a quarter. Lessons follow the school's assessment calendar, preparing each topic ahead of its assessment and consolidating before the exam.

No. There is no HSC Accounting course; NSW business students take Business Studies and Economics, both of which we teach. Accounting is offered in the VCE, QCE, WACE and SACE.
Yes — Units 1 and 2 in every state start from double-entry and the basic reports. Units 3 & 4 assume that base is solid, though, so if you are joining part-way or Units 1–2 went shakily, the trial lesson checks that layer first and the opening lessons rebuild it if needed.
